How years as a Hearing Officer Supervisor shaped Erik’s approach to fairness, efficiency, and clear legal procedure.

In my years as Hearing Officer Supervisor, a large part of my work has been guidance and training — helping ensure due process and sound legal procedure across a high-volume docket.

Our office conducted more than 33,000 appeals in a single recent year. I developed training on high-volume order writing so we could move efficiently without sacrificing accuracy or fairness. I also provided guidance on subpoenas, discovery, the admissibility of evidence, and default procedures consistent with the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.

Those are the same foundational principles that govern civil cases in our county and circuit courts.

Ensuring due process, keeping cases moving, and applying the law consistently are responsibilities I take seriously in every role I serve.
