House of Hope Orlando
I had the privilege of visiting House of Hope in Orlando, a network of residential homes focused on healing and restoring teens and families. While there, I was able to help connect the organization with people interested in volunteering and working alongside the program.
Sara Trollinger founded House of Hope in 1985 after seeing how many young people left detention without the support needed to change course. Today, teens ages 13–17 find structure, care, and hope on a quiet campus under leaders who continue that mission — including Karla Mathis, who once volunteered with the program and now serves as president.
Sara’s recent passing left a deep legacy. That legacy continues through the people still showing up for teens on the waitlist.
The program works — which is why demand is high. Additional volunteers and educational staff open seats for more young people who are ready to begin.
